     St. Mary's Basilica is located in the Archdiocese of Bangalore in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is among the oldest churches in Bangalore and the first church in the state that has been elevated to the status of a minor basilica.

During the 17th Century, few Christians, hailing from Ginjee in the state of Tamil Nadu, settle down in the fertile land and gave the name ‘Bili akki palli’.

 St Mary’s Basilica celebrates its annual feast on 8th September, the birthday of St Mary, attracting devotees from the entire region of Bangalore.
